Using the History generator

The History generator helps create activities about time order, changes in daily life, historical objects, family stories, local surroundings, symbols and an introduction to Indonesian history. For younger learners, chronological thinking and evidence are more important than memorising many dates.

Things to consider

  • Begin with familiar sequences before discussing distant periods.
  • Use photographs, objects, maps or family stories as discussion sources when available.
  • Distinguish information supported by a source from guesses that cannot yet be verified.

Follow-up idea

Add a simple timeline or a “then and now” box to the worksheet. Ask the learner to describe visible changes and name the source used, so history practice also develops evidence-based thinking.
